The Mayonnaise Jar and the 2 Cups of Coffee

People often ask how I manage to do the things I do....
I heard this story a while ago... Hope you find it inspiring as much as I do!

The Mayonnaise Jar and the 2 Cups of Coffee

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls size Rocks. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They replied "YES".

The professor then picked up a box of smaller pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly the pebbles rolled into the open areas between the Rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They once again replied "Yes".

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents of the 2 cups into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed. As the laughter subsided the professor said "Now the cup is full" "I would like you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The Rocks are the important things the big things -Your relationship with GOD, Your health, Your  well being, Your spouse!

The bigger Pebbles are the other things that really matter to you in you life such as your FAMILY! Friendship, your relatives and extended families, close friends, the ones you love.

The smaller Pebbles are your outer relationships, your colleges, your career or your job. The things you have to do in your life.

The sand is everything else–the small stuff." The material things such as your house, your car, your boat, the inanimate objects around you, all the things that have no feelings, the negative people and objects in your life, all the things that steal your time and energy."

He continued. "If you fill the jar with sand first then there is no room for the Rocks or the Pebbles,
like wise if you fill the jar with Pebbles, there is still no room for Rocks, put the big Rocks in first and fit the rest of the Pebbles in and then the sand around them.

The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the bigger things that are Really important to YOU"

If everything else was lost and only the small stuff remained, Sand and Pebbles your life would still be full, but full of what?

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness, spend time with GOD, pray, look after your self, take time to get medical checkups. Look after your spouse, take them out to dinner, Play with your children, Spend Quality time with your close friends and family. There will always be time to clean the house, do the garden, fix the car.

Decide NOW in your life what are Your Rocks what are Your Pebbles and beware of the Sand. Take care of those Rocks and those Pebbles, those things that really matter to you. Set your priorities and remember the rest is just Sand."

The Class was silent for a moment, one of the students raised their hand and inquired "What about the coffee what does that represented." The professor smiled, "I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, weather it be with Rocks, Pebbles, sand or an even balance of all three, there is always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

My LIFE STORY described in this song.

I heard this song last night for the first time!

I cried before the first stanza was over... How can I not... IT IS SOOOO ME described in every detail....

How PRIDE has been my struggles.... even my roommate 20 years ago told me ," be careful, humble yourself before GOD humbles you!"

Surely!  I have been broken by HIM so I can run back to HIM...
I wish I can tell you that I pass each lesson the first time it was given...
But truth be told... IT WASN"T the case..

I NEVER pass the lesson completely.. NEVER...
Still learning!  Still Failing... Each time HE picked me back up again and teaches me again..ever so patiently!

2 days ago, I watched the passion of the Christ on TV... The part that He was brutally beaten...

I can't stand watching too much of it.. So graphic :-(  Made me down on my knees today to think that someone took that for me.... Someone loves me that much....

Hope you listen to the song video... Hope you find it a blessing... I can't find the CD yet... so feel free to repost... No matter how many time I listen, I still cry.... It is so convicting... it is such a picture of me...

GRACE's lyric...

My heart is so proud. My mind is so unfocused.
I see the things You do through me as great things I have done. And now You gently break me, then lovingly You take me and hold me as my father and mold me as my maker.

Chorus:
I ask you: "How many times will you pick me up, when I keep on letting you down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory, how far will forgiveness abound?"
And you answer: " My child, I love you.
And as long as you're seeking My face, You'll walk in the pow'r of My daily sufficient grace."

At times I may grow weak and feel a bit discouraged, knowing that someone, somewhere could do a better job. For who am I to serve You?I know I don't deserve You. And that's the part that burns in my heart and keeps me hanging on.

Chorus*
I ask you: "How many times will you pick me up, when I keep on letting you down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory, how far will forgiveness abounds?"
And you answer: " My child, I love you.
And as long as you're seeking My face, You'll walk in the pow'r of My daily sufficient grace."
You are so patient with me, Lord.

As I walk with You, I'm learning what Your grace really means. The price that I could never pay was paid at Calvary. So, instead of trying to repay You, I'm learning to simply obey You
by giving up my life to you For all that You've given to me.

Chorus:
I ask you: "How many times will you pick me up, when I keep on letting you down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory, how far will forgiveness abounds?"
And you answer: " My child, I love you.
And as long as you're seeking My face, You'll walk in the pow'r of My daily sufficient grace."

What if your blessings come through raindrops...

My favorite song lately... I heard this last week... It spoke so much too me...
Hopefully it spoke to you as well...

Listen to it..... It worth your 5 min...

GOD loves you very much....Personally I had been through what is said in this song....
Laura story... the writer and singer..... wrote this out of her heart...
Her husband of 1.5 years at the time was diagnosed with brain tumor and now 5 yrs later still left with disabilities..

She HAS LOTS of questions.... but she said ,"Sometimes God gives us what we NEED and not what we WANT!" Sometime we NEED to be broken because HE wants us to get closer to HIM.... To Run back to him....

So here you go... Hope you find it encouraging...

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home,
It's not our home

Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

Conference and FEAST

I went to a conference last week to present my poster.... That was my first time ever presenting in a national conference... I had a great time with friends.... The highlight of the trips were all the meals we ate for dinner.... Especially when the university is picking up the expenses.... We got buffet breakfast at the hotel and lunch was provided at the conference....

Anyway, here are my dinner pictures....

First dinner: MEXICAN... super good and authentic... I had a huge burrito (like the "C" restaurant chain u might know :-) )...

Second dinner: Korean

Amazing Bimbim bap

That's a cotton candy machine in the corner!

Making my own mixed.... mint and strawberry cotton candy...

YUMMY cotton candy for dessert!

Third dinner: Japanese

I actually presented as well....

All and all, I had a great time in the conference and out of the conference around that city. It was nice to be able to eat and not have to be interrupted (by kiddos)....
